used by exposure to infected rodents. Recent cases in Yosemite National Park have increased enough to warrant warnings to 230,000 people who have potential exposure.
There are only a handful of cases at the present time, but if you’ve been to Yosemite in late July, August, or September, there is a small potential of infection.
This is a viral illness…so symptoms are typical of viral infections with high fever, aches, cough and GI distress. Then, symptoms progress over a day or two to breathlessness or prostration.
We do not expect to see cases in Arizona, but if you have concerns, please be in touch. Know that this is not an infection that is transmitted from one person to another, so if you’ve not been to Yosemite, you are not at risk.
