Coffee is one of those beverages that have detractors and supporters, but one issue has been put to rest….and that is the safety of coffee.
A recent NEJM (New England Journal of Medicine) article demonstrated that people who ingested high levels of coffee (over 6 cups per day) had lower risk of dying that those who did not drink coffee or who drank only modestly.
Although this study does not prove that coffee is a ‘tonic’ for long-life, it appears to clear coffee from implications of causing a shortened lifespan.
Good news for those who like their pot of coffee during the day and reassuring those of us with a lighter habit.
